Thought of being a Christ Church Intern for 2015/16?

Christ Church Chester voluntary internship scheme is designed to give you experience of Christian ministry and leadership in the context ofinterns parish church life.

In 2015-16 we are able to offer this exciting opportunity for between three and four interns for a 10 month period beginning this September 2015. Down load details:     Christ church Interns program 2015 Final

The Scheme:

Our internship is designed to give the opportunity to take 10 months out, volunteering in Christ Church, exploring Gods’ call through leadership and ministry.

Depending on your resources, we expect the voluntary intern to work up to 3 days part-time in the local area (e.g. working in a shop or café etc.), and be part-time with us for 3 days including Sunday morning.

The time with the church is split into three parts:

  • One third spent on ministry to students – where you will assist with Christ Church’s involvement in the university and contribute to our student work.
  • One third spent on training – we currently offer three training options: a biblical overview and ministry course with St Mellitus College North West based in Liverpool, a day a week with the Light Project Evangelism course or, depending on previous qualifications, a module at the University of Chester. You will also attend the Willow Creek leadership conference in Stafford with our leadership team, be part of our leadership development group and be mentored by Christ Church clergy and leaders with away days at key points during the year.
  • The final third is spent on a specialist area of ministry or project– this is an area of ministry you would like to develop or experience agreed with ourselves. It could include evangelism such as an alpha course, children’s or youth ministry, worship leading, community work such as working with our drop in cafe for homeless and venerable people or it could be a project new to Christ Church which you feel a particularly call to.

You will be responsible for funding yourself through part time work, including the cost of accommodation, during the course of the year.  The church will, however, assist by contributing £160 per month towards accommodation and meet the cost of travel and training through our training partner.

Contact the Associate Vicar Ralph Kemp on 07762 847211 or mail to  for an application form or if you would like to discuss this opportunity further.
