Weddings

Today more than a quarter of all marriages in England take place before God in the traditional setting of a Church of England church. You’re welcome to marry at Christ Church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptised and whether or not you go to church. Let us know if you’re interested in getting married at Christ Church and we can send you a pack, or come and talk it through with you in person. All you need to help you plan a personal, meaningful, spiritual and beautiful church wedding can be found on the Church of England weddings web site: www.yourchurchwedding.org

If you are getting married elsewhere, but need to have your Banns read at Christ Church, contact our administrator in good time before your wedding (at least 3 months) who will be able make sure they happen in time for you to have a stress-free wedding day!

Funerals

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. These can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.

Everyone is entitled to a funeral service in their local parish church, regardless of whether they attended church or not. If you have recently been bereaved you are welcome to contact us directly, but a good place to start is to contact a local funeral director. They will then put us in contact with you about organising the service.
